Several pre-defined Pay Items are provided to pay hourly rate based payments. The 'Ordianry Pay', 'Overtime @ 1.5' and 'Overtime @ 2' pay items all have a calculation type of 'Hourly'. This means that the current effective hourly rate entered in the payee's pay details screen is multiplied by the number of units entered in the pay calculation screen.
The 'Hourly' pay items also have a factor entered in the Pay Item set up screen. The factor is used to multiply the result of the multiplication of hourly rate and units. For ordinary pay the factor is 1, for overtime @ 1.5 the factor is 1.5 and for overtime @ 2, the factor is 2.
The predefined 'Ordinary Pay' pay item has a 'repeating' flag set. This causes the pay item to be carried forward automatically to the next pay period. When carried forward, the number of units is left as the same number of units as entered in the last pay. There is an option in the 'Create New Pay Options' screen to reset the number of units to the employee's normal hours per pay period, less the total of any public holiday hours. See Create New Pay Options for more details.
