Kwik-Pay's report writer gives you the ability to edit existing reports and create new ones. Each report is based on a data source which provides all the information for the report. The report definition which you can edit can sort the data into a different sequence, apply selection criteria to reduce the number of records, and edit the layout of data on each page.

The initial form displayed when you edit a report is the report summary information screen. This allows you to define additional sort sequences and selection criteria, and page size and margins, and printer setup.

Data Source

You can select any one of Kwik-Pay's predefined data sources. Each data source combines data from one or more tables in Kwik-pay's database, with the data already selected and sorted.

Selection Criteria

Each of Kwik-Pay's data sources is already pre-selected from Kwik-Pay's database. This tab allows you to apply additional criteria to reduce the volume of information further.

The data is selected in the sequence of each of the criteria in the order of the selection criteria you enter. That is the primary criteria is the first in this list, and the data will be selected by that criteria first.

When you select a selection criteria for edit, or add a new selection criteria, the Report Criteria Edit form is displayed.

Sort Sequence

Each of Kwik-Pay's data sources is already sorted in a pre-defined sequence. This tab allows you to over-ride the default sequence of the data.

The data is sorted in the sequence of each of the fields in the order of the sort sequence you enter. That is the primary sequence is the first in this list, and the data will be sorted in that sequence first.

When you select a sort sequence for edit, or add a new sort sequence, the Report Sort Sequence Edit form is displayed.

Page Setup

The page margin and print width unit of measurement is a 'twip' which is 1/567 of an inch.

Printer Setup

You can select a specific print tray from which the report is to be printed, a default number of copies (which can be over-ridden when the report is run), if the report is to be printed duplex (both sides of the paper, if your printer supports that), and if the page layout is to be portrait or landscape..

Layout Edit

The layout edit button displays the report layout in a form that allows you to drag and drop report controls to reposition them as well as add new report controls and change the characteristics of existing ones. The report layout edit screen is displayed.
